About Dinosaur Sanctuary

Dinosaur Sanctuary is the real fossils branch of Triebold Paleontology INC., which is headquartered in the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center in Woodland Park, Colorado. At RMDRC, a number of our casts and original fossil specimens are on exhibit in our hands-on family-friendly natural history museum. Our collection of original fossils are cleaned and reconstructed in the fossil preparation lab viewable to museum visitors, and our mounted reproductions are also fabricated here, behind the scenes, before being shipped and installed in museums and galleries around the globe.

The authentic fossil specimens that we offer are recovered from localities including the Niobrara Chalk, Judith River, and Hell Creek Fm. among others. All specimens offered here are collected by our expert crew ethically and legally with permission from private landowners.

Individuals involved in academic research or interested in procuring any of our original fossil specimens are welcome to schedule a visit to view specimens in person.

Our specimens are collected with the academic buyer in mind, as we document our digs in a variety of ways. Photographs are taken both in the field and the lab. Stratigraphic and taphonomic work is performed. Each site is carefully mapped. Collateral fossils are collected. All of the documentation you would expect from an academic dig and more are provided to the buyer. Clear title to each specimen is also guaranteed, as we are licensed to collect on private ranches in several states. Site visits are also freely offered for gathering additional information on any specimen acquired.

Our policy has always been that any fossil vertebrate considered scientifically significant is reserved for acquisition by a pubic institution as part of a permanent collection. We also recognize that there is some room for interpretation of the term “scientifically significant” as a clear definition does not exist. In light of this fact, we restrict the availability of any skeleton having particularly unique characteristics to institutional buyers. Unless otherwise noted, purchase of any specimen includes scientific publishing rights, but TPI retains the commercial casting rights on all specimens sold.
